You won’t want to leave our large beach house, just 1 house away from the 26th Ave Beach.
Enjoy relaxing ocean views from the second story decks, dining room, kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. Take a romantic sunset stroll on the beach, fall asleep to the sound of the waves, and drink your morning coffee while you watch for dolphins, sea lions, and surfers.

The 26th Ave beach is a popular spot for surfing, boogie boarding, families, and dogs. After playing in the sand, rinse off in our hot outdoor shower, then jump into the new hot tub.

On Sundays, walk or ride one our personal bicycles to the nearby Live Oak Farmer's Market. Remember to bring your helmets!

Please review the following information before you submit a request!Our goal is to be upfront occupancy limits and extra fees!

•We strongly advise you read the entire rental agreement.
•The county requires all adult guest are on and sign a rental agreement. (Permit#211330).
•Base rate includes 8 overnight guests (children + adults). The county permit allows up to 2 adult additional overnight guests are allowed for an additional $40 per adult/night.
•There are external security cameras located at entry to house ensuring that our occupancy liits and those of local county laws are being respected.
•No fireworks, firearms, candles or incents are allowed on property. Firework possession has a $1000-$10,000 fine anywhere in the county including the beaches.
•Also, beach may be unavailable for periods, hours/day, or longer and is out of our control do to sand bar movement on the coast, weather, or tide destruction.
*As of 03/23/2024, Vrbo has stopped including required T.O.Tax to the total, even though they say that their fees include "Fees and Taxes". Therefore we will be adding the required 14% tax to the total and submitting it on your behalf as required by the County of Santa Cruz, tax authority and our Vacation Rental permit.

Rate Notes

Cancellation policy:-
Bookings at this property are non-refundable for whatever has been paid. However, may be applied toward a future stay for a $135 transfer fee.  I canceled prior to 3 week of arrival set-up fees may be refundable.
 
Damage and incidentals:-
You will be responsible for any damage and clean-up to the rental property caused by you or your group during your stay.

Maximum overnight guests: 10 (sleeps up to 10 guests ages 8 years and older), Base Rate is for 8 overnight guests in four private bedrooms. Additional beds are available for an additional fee/ person
Adults are counted as all guests 8 year and up.
 
Minimum age to rent: 35 unless you add us to your homeowners insurance or renters insurance declaration page.
 
Children allowed: ages 0-7
Children over 8 years old are counted as an adult
 
Pets allowed: Up to 3 dogs
$100 1st dog, $35 2nd and $35 3rd dog.
 
No events allowed
 
No smoking allowed in building.
Smoking allowed only in yard. guest must extiguish completely and dispose of all smoking material immediately.
 
A limited number of Day Visitors are allowed at $10.00/Day Visitor/Day. Ask before paying non-refundable booking as fees will be applied regardless.
 
Security cameras are located on the property's front exterior to ensure safety of guests and to investigate any violations of the rental agreement, including damage.

About Jean Gelbart
This property is owned and managed by a single family, and this is our only vacation rental.
We are a family of 4th/5th generation Californian's who grew up visiting Santa Cruz for family vacations and romantic get-aways. In 2007, while visiting the beach on just such a trip, we saw this beach house for sale and bought it! Our dream was to be able to visit Santa Cruz overnight periodically throughout the year, and have a space big enough for our family to come together and enjoy the beach.
We would not be able to maintain the costs of owning the property without short-term vacationers like you, and we are grateful for the chance to share our lovely beach home and the joy it has brought our family.
Why they chose this property
The house is literally a 20 second walk to beach access, and within 2 blocks on either side there are other beach access points. Within a 5 minute walk there is a trail to go for walks with dogs, and the Live Oak Farmer's Market is just a 2 minute drive. There amazing options close by for surfing, recreational runners, bicyclists, hikers, and bird watching. Fine dining and shopping is just minutes away, as well as cafes, thrift stores, and tasty hole-in-the-wall eateries.
What makes this property unique
In addition to the amazing location, the property itself is special because of the spacious floorplan - 2900 sq. ft. has an open floor plan and comfortably accommodates up to 10 adults. The upstairs kitchen, deck, and living area is made for entertaining and enjoying the ocean views and sea life, and the occasional paraglider! The backyard is also magical - enough room for a large hot tub, hammock, small garden, and lawn, but cozy and intimate.
All this is hidden away and secure behind the automatic driveway gate. The ample parking was also a draw for us - 2 cars can fit in the garage, and we have managed to fit an additional 3 cars in the driveway!

Great Beach House!

We had a great time staying at this house! The location was wonderful...secluded yard and proximity to beach! Each day had just enough low tide hours to get out there and play in the water. We brought our own wetsuits and boogie boards, though the house did offer a few options. The hose to rinse sand off was so convenient. The hot tub and fireplaces were perfect for warming up after the beach. A television in the upper living room would have been nice since it gets pretty dark up there when the sun goes down. The bikes were in pretty rough condition, but I was still able to ride one up to some shops. That was fun! Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves here.
